Pros

Above average pay for corporate employer. Decent benefits. Reasonably flexible time off as needed for vacation and time off for family reasons.

Cons

Limited upward mobility, completely incompetent upper management, discriminatory pay and promotion practices (blatant reverse discrimination). Poor recognition outside the standard pay program. Arrogant management whose value on the open market would be half of what it is in other big cities. A huge premium given to years of Dow service years vs. diversity of thinking and other experiences. Advanced degrees required for some positions but way under represented in upper management. Criteria for promotions and certain positions are secretive and not open. HR compensation package now heavily weighted to giving all bonuses and long term compensation to just top 5% vs. top 20% as before. Very strong performers have been left out and are therefore treated no different than average to poor performers.

Pros

Great pay and benefits for a local company. There are some real amazing leaders.

Cons

Dow is currently looking to terminate everyone they can "for cause". Uninvestigated & unsubstantiated complaint, too bad, you're fired. Toxic environment that promotes sabotage and backstabbing. No direction from management on where the company is headed. Dow protects bad employees by putting systems in place to limit high performers. Promotions are for people managers no longer want. Too much DEI being shoved down employee throats. "High fliers" are the ones who accept and promote liberal and progressive agenda. The average manager knows nothing about business and just go with the flow. The real change agents get targeted and removed. You have the normal Heather's who go around filing complaints on people for personal vendettas. HR protects this practice.

Pros

Good PTO and some employee development programs.

Cons

The insurance is terrible unless you use the company clinic, and dividends on purchased stock have been removed. The workplace is always on “code red,” forcing employees to penny-pinch, while leadership continues to receive raises and simply rotate roles within their circle. Employees are often let go, even when it’s poor leadership decisions that create the issues. Instead of accountability, leadership is rewarded, sometimes being paid the equivalent of multiple employees’ salaries. The culture is toxic, with far too much focus on hierarchy and whether someone is a contractor or a full-time employee. Leadership constantly promotes “inclusion” in words, but their actions don’t match. It feels like empty buzzwords rather than a genuine effort to create meaningful change.
