Pros

Keep all tips Decent money if you are busy 10-15% sales commission Health benefits (rare in salon industry) 401k offered, but with no matching (also rare in salon)

Cons

Minimum Wage. No 401k match. Hours get cut w little to no notice. "Family culture" = go above and beyond with little $ compensation out of the kindness of your heart

Getting to know stylists & clients, great atmosphere, occasional fun gifts like enamel pins, product discount, fun product launches

Cons

Dealing with the middleman call center, avoiding running behind when 45 minutes is rarely adequate, late clients, very high stress sometimes, no benefits
