Pros

Even as a contingent worker (contract employee), there are benefits: health insurance through contract agency, flexible time off (unpaid), opportunity to see if you're a good fit for that position and environment.

Cons

Do not get the paid holidays or other employee benefits. There can be uncertainty on whether your position will be extended or in the budget. Long transition to become a permanent employee.
