Pros

I have been at Durlston Partners for more than two years and enjoyed every minute of it, the team culture is second to none. I've worked in start-ups, big tech firms, and consultancies and this is by far the best team culture I've come across where you're excited to go in every day and to work alongside teammates who have become friends. Having grown organically over the past 10 years where every team member gets a say on new hires, it's a big part of the collaborative, transparent, and humble culture that we have today. The client list has also grown organically through word of mouth and recommendations from candidates and clients who have enjoyed working with us. This puts us in a great position to choose clients we love working with which naturally means that anyone coming in can focus on making placements rather than spending cold calling for new business. Everyone who joins is given the tools to succeed but also the ownership and autonomy to plan and manage their day in a meritocratic environment. The above is most important to me but there are added benefits including: Fully paid team holidays (Barcelona, New York, Ibiza to name but a few) Best commission structure in London - the more revenue you bring in the more you take home Snacks / beer fridge / great open plan office / dart board / healthcare / gym membership / cycle to work schemes and many many more to list (check the website).

Cons

If you're new to recruitment, there is a learning curve and you have to have patience and resilience to see the rewards but if you're hardworking, consistent and find that you do actually love recruitment then that patience will pay off in the long term

Pros

To give whoever reading this some context, I joined as a senior hire, 5 years of experience including team management, recruitment is a very process-driven job so you naturally begin to think you're doing everything right and you don't have much more to learn once you reach a certain level and it's just about repeating the same tasks to make deals happen, boy was I wrong. You'll learn a lot at Durlston Partners, no matter what your experience level, the recruitment process the founder has built and taught is second to none. You will learn how to get better candidates and manage them better as well. Transparency, all communication is open, we use Slack mainly instead of email for quick feedback, no one has ownership of clients, we have account managers but anyone is allowed to work any role, meaning, if you're someone who enjoys the candidate side of recruitment as opposed to constantly be doing BD, you'd probably enjoy it. Speaking of clients, sometimes it feels like we have too many, there's always a constant flow of new clients coming due to Durlston Partners excellent reputation and network, some of our clients have worked with us for 10+ years and are still using it to this day, often as their exclusive supplier, you just don't get that in 99% of recruitment firms out there. So you can focus on doing placements rather than spending half of your time cold calling or chasing new business. Finally, the culture is not like your typical recruitment firm, Durlston Partners hires very humble and talented individuals but we don't have the typical sales boiler room culture you tend to find in recruitment, and those types of individuals probably wouldn't fit in here, we share resources and everyone is working towards the same goal, building out a vast network, making placements and maintaining a high level of integrity and reputation in the market with candidates and clients alike. Beautiful modern offices in Mayfair, close to Oxford Street and Green Park tube stations, it's a very cool place to work and beats the city hustle, I worked in Bank for 5 years and am very glad to be out of there as it can feel a bit soulless sometimes. Free breakfast, most of the time free lunches + afternoon/early dinners as well, snacks, beer fridge, whiskey cabinet, Dart board, N64, 70” TVs to watch Rugby when the games are on, paid for company holidays to Europe including Ibiza, Barcelona, Croatia, etc and not just for the top billers, also bi-annual company events in top bars/hotels in Mayfair all paid for by the founder.

Cons

None really, you might put a bit of weight as the founder likes to constantly order in food for everyone but you get a gym membership as well to fight that. If you’re someone who likes to hide CVs in your top drawer and not collaborate you might not fit in here.

Pros

At Durlston Partners hard work pays off. With an unrivaled commission structure, fantastic working culture and excellent clients – if you put in the hours you will see results. Whether you are new to recruitment or a seasoned professional, the training throughout is fantastic. As a close-knit team, we work together to deliver for one another and our clients. Finally, we work as a team, there is no red tape if you want to bring new ideas to the table (no matter your seniority or how long you have been at the company) your voice is heard.

Cons

Can’t fault it – you need to role up your sleeves and work hard to see result. But if you are willing to put in the hours and work smart, you will see rewards both personally and financially
