Shops can be very clique-y. You have to realize that DB shops are essentially a small box in which you are in very close proximity to a large array of differing personalities for hours at a time while often in fast paced high stress situations. Chances are there's at least one person you won't get along with and this is a hard job to do when you don't click with your team. Management is extremely demanding for a part time job. Even though many DB employees are also students or have other important things to deal with, management throughout the entire company seems to think that DB, despite being a part time minimum wage job, should be your first priority. Management also has a habit of harboring mediocrity in drink quality. Many people come out of training missing many core barista skills. I took it upon myself to become a more than competent barista, but that was through my own study and practice. I personally have seen people get marked down on employee reviews for taking an extra few seconds to make sure someone's drink looks amazing instead of doing it super fast and just okay.
