The competition for winning projects can be challenging in the engineering consultant business

I think I'll be looking for another company this year. I'm not sure why I was poached from my other firm if I'm barely going to use my skill set. While I love the company and co-workers, to grow, I need to leave and will look to return in a few years. Due to too much work and not enough people, the collaborative environment I was hired into is not the environment I work in. It's very difficult to get people to work together and communication has suffered solely because of capacity. Most of the growth opportunities are given to the same people over and over, which is related to capacity. Rather than thinking about who could be plugged into projects, PM's just use the same few names over and over. When those people leave, or simply don't have enough hours in the week to do the work, we have incredibly tough bottlenecks because the experience isn't being spread around. I'm so stagnant in this position and the lack of professional development is frustrating. Fully remote staff have far fewer opportunities than those in close proximity to offices. It's not a great place to grow your career. They are used to being a small company and mentorship on how EA works is non-existent.
