Pros
EDB wants to change the world and we are doing it. The technical team is top-notch, employing many of the leaders in the PostgreSQL world. We also have a great sales team that consistently produces great results, quarter after quarter. The work is very interesting and very challenging. And working with the open-source community means that we share a knowledge base much deeper than would be possible in a purely proprietary company.
Cons
The work load is ver* heavy - we tackle a lot of hard problems and try to fit the solutions into schedules that keep our customers happy. There is a certain amount of tension between the open-source advocates and others who may be accustomed to working in old-style proprietary environments. Finding the right balance can be a challenge.
