Pros

Wellness Fridays gives you some relief

Cons

This place doesn’t feel like a real business. It feels more like a side project with no solid plan or real investment in people. Leadership gives out impossible quotas and expects results in two quarters. If you don’t deliver, you’re out. One-on-ones aren’t about development. They’re used to pressure you and remind you your job is on the line. People are hired and fired so often, it’s hard to keep track. At this rate, they might actually run out of people to hire. The real goal here seems to be going public or selling. There’s no real focus on building a team, a culture, or anything lasting. Leadership is more concerned with how the company looks than how it operates. They even hire firms to clean up negative reviews on Glassdoor and Google. Watch how they’ll respond to this with a generic, Chatgpt generated comment just like all other reviews that avoids accountability. At the same time, they’ll push current employees to post glowing reviews just to bump up the star rating. If you just need a paycheck while you look for something better, this could be a stopgap. But if you’re looking to grow your career or be part of something meaningful, this isn’t it. And yes, commissions are never explained and you end up chasing every dollar you earned wondering if you were paid correctly.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at EDB did not meet your expectations. At EDB, we are in a period of high growth and transformation, and we recognise that this pace can be challenging. We set ambitious goals because we believe in the talent and potential of our teams. That said, it’s clear from your review that we have more work to do in supporting our employees through those expectations. We're especially concerned about your comments regarding one-on-ones and development conversations. Our intent is for these sessions to be supportive, not pressure-filled. If they’ve felt otherwise, that’s a signal we need to better equip our leaders to foster more meaningful and growth-oriented dialogue. As you may be aware we started quarterly talent review check ins with all managers from Q2 to help better guide them when managing their teams. We also hold regular manager enablement sessions and will start manager training next month. Your feedback on compensation transparency and clarity around commission structures is also heard. We agree that this is an area that requires improvement, and steps are already underway to address this. Regarding the broader culture and direction of the company—while it’s true that we’re building toward long-term goals like IPO readiness, we are equally committed to creating a sustainable, values-led environment. We do not pay for or remove reviews, and we encourage all current and former employees to share honest feedback, whether positive or critical, so we can continue to improve. We thank you again for your contributions during your time at EDB and encourage you to reach out to your People Partner should you wish to discuss this review in more detail.

Pros

Wellness Fridays are fun having an extra day off every month

Cons

The quest to make EDB Postgres an AI company isn't working and failing. Analytics is worst in class while Oracle to Postgres migrations is non-existent as prospects take EDB sales quote, give it to Oracle and magically get better Oracle pricing and never go with EDB Postgres, EDB needs partners for DB2 and Oracle migrations as EDB services is weak and lack talent for these complex migrations. The platform barely works and limited customers use it. High customer churn. High turnover of employees in all departments. Various and continual high turnover of sales leaders and sales types. Competitor replacement program is a disaster as truly not a like for like replacement. The product team knows it, the sales team knows it—it's not fun. Employees have been promised equity, but the company is so far away from being good and getting bought. The continual company changes, team cuts, repositions and rebrands, relaunches, and continual changing strategy shifts have not moved EDB forward; they've lost strong talent and heart in the process. The marketing team lacks real talent and energy. EDB is imploding quitely. Constantly missed sales forecasts, quarter over quarter and your smaller competitors like CrunchyData and Nano acquired by Snowflake and DataBricks should be an embarrassment as IBM will NOT acquire EDB.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience at EDB did not meet your expectations. While this review is difficult to read, we take all feedback seriously and view it as an opportunity to learn and improve. At EDB, we are on a bold journey to innovate and expand the potential of Postgres in a rapidly evolving data and AI landscape. Like any company pursuing transformation, we acknowledge there have been growing pains—including organisational changes and strategic pivots—as we build toward our long-term vision. These shifts are never taken lightly and are always made with the intention of strengthening our future. We are proud of our teams, including product, engineering, and services, who work hard to support our customers through complex challenges. While no organisation is perfect, we strive to create an environment of continuous improvement, learning, and support. The feedback around employee experience, leadership, and transparency is especially important to us, and we are actively investing in these areas. Wellness, trust, and collaboration remain key priorities across EDB. We understand that transformation brings both uncertainty and opportunity, and we remain committed to fostering a culture where our people can grow, contribute, and thrive. We encourage you to reach out to your People Partner should you wish to discuss your concerns in more detail. —The EDB Team
