Pros

Nice benefits, PTO, WFH options, flexible hours, friendly people

Cons

The company's technology departments are not aligned. Tech from the 90s drives all actual business operations while dreams of cloud computing and distributed systems are all anyone on the tech side wants to talk about. This is frustrating if you actually want to see your work come to fruition and be used by your customers. Employees who are ineffective in their roles are left in those roles and negatively affect people and teams around them in perpetuity. Company is interested in innovative and new ideas only inasmuch as it alignes with the leadership's proposed plan (read: politics)

Pros

ENGIE operates in many markets so good opportunities to expand experience to other cities' customer's and utilities. Fellow staff in the Norwell office are supportive, engaging, and helpful. Many other positive aspects of the former Opterra's culture was undone when ENGIE took over.

Cons

Little communication between the many smaller companies that ENGIE has acquired over the last few years, despite having major business objectives being dependent on this collaboration. Travel policy implemented recently by ENGIE corporate is inconvenient & reasonable expense reports were regularly send back by corporate. Sales & engineering teams not on the same page resulting in customers receiving free engineering work from us, it is mainly a lighting retrofit focused company that struggles to comprehend mechanical work.
