      Consultant with Company Benefits

      Pros

      I am retained as the expert for their clients. I have company benefits and a fabulous working arrangement with the client I was hired to work with as a technical writer. This is the best writing job as an independent I have worked.

      Cons

      The only con I would say is the company is somewhat separate from consultants. For taxation purposes, I am a W-2 but treated as a consultant with benefits. This is great for independent people. But if you want to feel like an employee and more connected to a corporation, this arrangement may not be ideal.
