Hard to get promoted once hired. Pay is not competitive

I think a lot of the blame should go to the state of the world and economy. But EY didn't necessarily react appropriately when it came time to. After covid I think the company undeniably took a turn. After money got tight, the company was definitely less happy go lucky and more cut throat. Promotions were limited and raises were not guaranteed. I was reallocated to different teams and the mistake I made was to resist and try to maintain my position. I believe they were positioning me to be in a group that would not be a dead end for me but how was I supposed to know that and why should I be punished for wanting to continue the work I was hired to do. I have many good things to say about my time at EY but one thing I won't forget is that I believe their leadership decisions costed the firm millions and they tried to deny any layoffs were related. With that, the practice become more hostile and leaders were adopting the narrative that employees should be supporting the business on our own time. (Even though we were not paid to do so)
