I've been writing software for decades at many different companies. Staying as long as I did hoping that my work would be recognized was the single worst decision of my career.
Low pay (25% below market on average). Poor benefits. Only friends and family of the CTO advance at this company. Even though I was in good standing with the company and had 'exceeds expectations' on all of my performance objectives, the CTO was spiteful that I was leaving and denied paying my bonus, even though my manager pleaded that I should receive it. I had a meeting with the CTO about a solution to the fundamental engineering problem they are trying to solve, and he turned around and took my idea as his own with zero acknowledgement . The CTO was wronged by Microsoft and is gutting the entire tech stack out of spite. There is no sound technical reason, and the rest of the engineering department suffers for it.
They talk about their core values of trust, candor, humility, and respect, yet upper management is the exact opposite.
If you are an engineer, run as far away from this place as you can.
