      Decent company to work for

      Pros

      You can grow immensely within the company if you know the right people. You learn a ton because you get a lot of responsibility and you're never idle. Safety is a very high priority and no matter what,that will not be compromised.

      Cons

      Very little authority as compared to responsibility. Managers dictate everything and for an engineer to think out of the box isn't appreciated much. Capital investment is very little by the corporate but they expect all the issues to be solved on the floor. Seems like that's the culture in most corporations nowadays.

      The "good ole boy" system takes care of its own.

      Good work environment, excellent pay and benefits.

      Cons

      Very political, it's who you know and "not" how much you do. Oh, did you work at GE .... Then You're part of the good ole boy club. Marketing holds the power to fire, never say "no" or "disagree" or you will suddenly be offered an "or else" transfer to Siberia. Product engineering and operations will not stand behind you if you go against marketing by trying to enforce their own company policy. If you have an opinion you better keep it to yourself and if you're over 50 your too old to be trainable and you'll be lucky if you make it more than 3 years. Be careful with relocation, they may cry recession and change the reimbursement rules.
