Excellent for Software Engineers in Chicago

You are essentially full-stack here meaning they expect you to help build a product by working in C#, SQL, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Knockout.js, jQuery, and PowerShell if needed. You are very close to your customers and people give great feedback. The IT department in general has a very positive, fun, and progressive attitude.

Cons

They are still learning how to implement Agile more effectively. QA and Automation testing are lacking, as we still have bugs and easy errors that occur after deploys.

-Lack of trust and respect for employees -So many politics -Many disgruntled and unhappy employees in all departments -Learning and Development is a joke (no direction, poor standards, amateur, just a mess!) -revolving door due to horrible management (no experience, no clue, bad style......) -Unprofessional: NO INTEGRITY gossip by management, hr, etc. -Low pay and low budgets -Poor communication -Smoke and mirrors

I’m sorry you felt a lack of trust between employees – we expect the utmost respect out of all employees and do not tolerate an environment where people feel disrespected or subject to gossip. We also have multiple channels where we take feedback from employees (employee surveys, focus groups, here on Glassdoor) and I can assure you we take this feedback seriously. We hold regular town halls led by our Executive team to give updates on our company and keep the communication line open. We have leaders in place across the entire company, including L&D, who are subject matter experts and are there to provide guidance and direction to their employees. Pros

People spend their entire days looking at fantasy sports or shopping online for completely irrelevant items to the job. You can be playing games on your computer and management won't say a thing. In some cases, mine in particular, the manager would spend an hour deciding on what to get for lunch & once he had it in front of him, if you tried approaching him for assistance w/ an issue or to take a phone call, meant for him, he would either snap back or make matters worse for the purpose of teaching you not to bother him. If you are someone looking to get paid for slacking off, there is plenty of that here & you'll blend in fine with everyone working their butts off to make a career out of this. Make sure to ask about the stock options only a handful of employees are being offered with Echo in addition.

Cons

If you are looking to get started here & make a good living, the only way would be for someone who has been with the company for a long time, to quit. And then you would be handed down their account. But even when this situation does occur, it all comes down to the manager's favorites, no structure what so ever. An employee can show their loyalty & put everything they have into this job & management will still find something so minor worth terminating them for. They could care less about the relationships within the company as well as who's keeping the relationships with their carriers & customers, as long as they are still making their millions at the top. Its all one big pyramid scheme.
