Pros
human services, sometimes in a position to help people and make a difference
Cons
Though "manager" was in the title, I was treated more like an entry level receptionist. On the first week, my peer, who also had the same title told me we had the title, but with none of the authority. Eckerd was under a contract with a branch of the state, and we were beholden to a board of directors from the state. We were completely mismanaged. I was undertrained, blocked when starting projects, and lied to at every turn. I wasn't even aware that Eckerd's contract was expiring only months from my starting date and that it was very unlikely it would be renewed. They invested no money even for things like basic office supplies, name tags, or business cards. One of my managers paid to have her name tag made and another colleague paid to have her own business cards. Pathetic. The person before me quit only after a few weeks of work.
