having a positive impact on the lives of children; learning a lot about many different areas of social work; the health insurance was spectacular (Florida Blue)

Cons

poor pay (2 years and no raise?); poor upper management; high turnover; high caseloads; little support from supervisors who are also over worked; impossible demands (too many cases, too much travel, deadlines for paper work that are unrealistic if you have a life aside from this job, which unfortunately you won't)

you end up working almost every evening and every weekend, plus you are expect to drive long distances to meetings without getting paid mileage

Saved up a lot of money, great perks and benefits One of the most rewarding jobs... "character building" A great opportunity if you can keep your head on straight

Cons

Poorly funded- a lot of shortcuts taken that could have been a huge liability Understaffed- Often was the only counselor in a group of 13 fighting kids for 5 days at a time... then only had 40 hours off physically demanding... sleep deprivation+breaking up fights all day+fattening food outdated therapeutic structure...
