Pros

As the title says, many things have changed. I know when I was looking for a job and read the reviews, I was concerned. Now on the inside, I am glad I decided to move forward. Looking back on the reviews that had me concerned, it is obvious they were off. Some of them weren’t here long because they misidentified the CEO. Others are so old; they are not even relevant. The company is aware of its bad reputation and is trying to improve which is why I put this in the pros. Don’t let the bad reviews dissuade you. This company cares about its employees. I have had some personal family matters and they were willing to let me work from home while I worked them out. I have heard stories of the same from others. They also care about work-life balance and don’t expect anyone to work extra. They listen to their employees and let them do what they enjoy. In a very short time, I have been able to use the various skills that I bring to the table to help the company. This includes updating the company website, helping train other developers in C#, and advertising on Facebook. If you have something you enjoy doing and can help the company, let others know and they will be happy to give you an opportunity. They also recently got desks that let you stand or sit which is nice. Also, they have a great retirement plan if you aren’t currently saving. It is 3% of your salary regardless. One last thing I will say is what I have heard as the “Monday morning test”. How you feel about your job can be identified if you dread Monday mornings. I don’t so I know I am happy with where I am.

Cons

Required to work 40 hours, I am used to this, but I know some other software engineers may have had other experiences

Pros

The only Pro I can mention, is that there are some great people that work for this company. Most of them young, right out of school, and working on getting some experience, not knowing any better.

Cons

Micromanaged, Very High Turnover, I saw another post that started close to 50% turnover rate. I worked for Edaptive for 2 years, and from my experience it was higher than that. I can also tell you from my experience with the company, that is was not due to the employees bad attitude as to why they left. It is due to the disrespect from the CEO, She will talk to you like you are a child if you report directly to her. You owe her, because she hired you. They want accurate timesheet keeping, but if you work more than 40 hours in a week, they will tell you, you can't put that on your timesheet. They follow their own rules when it benefits them. If you are a young male looking to get your foot in the door, that is easy. If you are female, that is a different story. They have used female contractors, but in the 2 years I have been there they will not hire a female employee. No Security for being a government contractor, questionable software, it is all about the bottom dollar, don't expect them to spend a penny unless absolutely necessary. Well until the end of the year, when they go on a spending frenzy for tax purposes. Very immoral, noncompliant company I have ever worked for. Be warned.

Pros

Working here allows a person to quickly pick up a base of development skills . This is a useful quick stop for new developers who are unsure of themselves and their value. In my opinion, software developers should always check their value in the market to make sure they aren't helping to push down rates at other development companies.

Cons

Young employees are paid extremely low wages. Younger employees do not realize their value and tend to work at Edaptive far longer than they need to in order to be qualified for much higher wages. A principal developer might be paid on par with what they made at other companies, but that does not make them experts on compensation at Edaptive. I received a very large raise when I left. The people who are hired on as principles or team leads might have a different experience as they may have known their value going in. That does not mean that Edaptive doesn't pay less than market for most employees compared to what they would be paid at another defense contractor. I too have worked at many companies and have an opinion that is just as valuable as someone calling other posters stupid. I don't think checking into the market and finding better opportunity is dumb, and I would encourage all employees of any company to go out and check their value at other employers before assuming someone getting paid twice what you are receiving is telling you the truth about compensation at Edaptive or elsewhere. If there are only a few people with good wages out of 50-60, they are outliers. Compensation aside, the work life balance was poor here too. I have worked a couple of years since being at Edaptive and have barely worked overtime at all. I regularly worked extra hours at Edaptive. I was also asked to do odd jobs at Edaptive that had nothing to do with software development. This put people in awkward situations where they were building desks during their lunches for a slice of pizza or two. That is something people do because they feel that if they won't, it might affect raises or how they are treated. Are team leads or principles asked to do this "side" work?? Not from what I witnessed. Not everyone is treated the same. There are a handful of people who are treated decently and appear to be paid enough to keep them around. Most of the development work is not done by these people but by people who typically leave after a year or two because of low pay and working conditions. These people who leave do not deserve to be called stupid merely because they have discovered reality...
