Pros

Great role to sharpen skillsets like critical thinking and use multi-tasking skills. Sharpen those skills and move on to something else. I can admit my pay was good with this role. I had a good manager.

Cons

Everyone pretty much does things however they want to do them; you are taught to do things a specific way in training, but when you actually go into the role… it is nothing like the training. I had to learn software on the fly that was never mentioned in training, along with 1,000 other things that training did not cover. I know a lot of roles consist of topics that can’t all be covered within the training period, but I would expect they would have sufficient resources for me to use to help me know what I need to do for the job. The resources are extremely vague. CSA’s and financial planners ignore regulatory rules and they do whatever is convenient for them… some of my training went totally out the window. My manager was great, but I felt like I was expected to perform up to an expectation they did not set me up for. My planner often seems frustrated that I am not entirely sure of what I am doing sometimes. It blows my mind this RIA is #1 on Barron’s. THAT RATING WAS BUILT ON THE BACK OF CSA’S, I WILL TELL YOU THAT. I often have to ask other CSA’s for help on things that aren’t covered in training. This position was not what I expected when I was interviewing; I do not believe they were truthful on the reality of this role in the interview process. Learning my role also hasn’t been easy with a pushy planner that wants things done the way HE wants them to be done and in the time frame HE personally prefers. I am grateful of all the people that helped me in this role, but this has truly sucked.
