Desirable place to build a long career with a large number having been here 5+ years versus agency-hopping, a recognizable leader in communications, a lot of really smart people with diverse skill sets, an entrepreneurial environment that rewards people for being motivated to go the extra mile or discover the next big thing

Cons

A competitive spirit that triggers long hours and desire to own ideas rather than more open collaboration

Edelman is an excellent public relations firm and the name itself garners a lot of respect. As a large company, it's run very well.

Cons

When I first started working there I did not have a lot of input on what department I worked in.

Pros

Edelman is a large company with many resources and a spectrum of high-recognition clients. As a private company, there is less of a "roller coaster" during economic downturn which translates into security for staffers. Edelman is very good at its core competencies - media pitching/placing/ tracking. The sense of hierarchy is minimized within the offices, junior and senior staffers work side by side.

Cons

Edelman's specialty practices are weak and poorly structured. Upward mobility is difficult for those outside of the traditional institutional structure (if you're not a manager, you're not going anywhere). Notoriously cheap with employees and projects.
