Great company to work for

Pros

Egnyte provides every employee with the opportunity to make a difference. We all have a voice and a say in what changes we make as a company. For example, Vineet Jain (CEO) and Rajesh Ram (Co-Founder) spent the last few days in Spokane listening to ideas and feedback from everyone in the office. Even though Spokane is a remote office, it's supported from every level in the company. I've worked at companies where teams are in silos, but here every team constantly communicates, collaborates and drives progress together. It's a pleasure working with such talented individuals. Work schedules are flexible, lunch is provided twice per week, and there are always snacks in the kitchen. Plus, philanthropy is baked into the culture. About once per quarter we get to take time to volunteer as a team.

Cons

Although a 401K program is in place, contributions are not matched.

Pros

This is a company where honesty and transparency is higher than any other place that I have worked at. Senior management is laser focused on execution sometimes at the cost of appearing impersonal. This company has been very well run and there is a constant focus on keeping costs under control. I have been here for more than 4 years and still get excited about all the things ahead of us.

Cons

While taking out the bottom 10% seems to be ok (this is not stated publicly), if management could "soften" the impact on those being replaced, it would reduce bitterness of those being replaced.

Extremely political, in fighting culture

Pros

Individual contributors are great people. Most enter Egnyte with a desire and passion to succeed. Nice kitchen, with drinks and snacks readily available. Free lunch twice a week.

Cons

Management changes focus frequently. It's as if they have never had a good direction to move to before, so keep shifting randomly. Very heavy politics. Another review called Egnyte a fraternity and that was spot on. Leaders fight against each other publicly and are competing to see who is the most important. Never keeping an eye on the ball. Turnover is like an epidemic. Very few have been with Egnyte for long. During interview, I suggest asking each person how long they have been employed there. Also a really heavy micromanagement culture.
