Pros

Good people, values and cause-based culture, science-based portfolio, you are heard (if not listened to), Management drives both behaviors and results, Great training platform, Solid and appreciated Lilly backing, Long history and broad business portfolio do lend stability, People and company want to be difference makers

Cons

Matrix organization makes internal alignment difficult, tactical vs strategic mindset, Reluctance to lead--won't assume the industry and public leadership that trends, issues, and its newfound size require, Will animal Pipeline catch up to today's food industry society trends, Walk doesn't always match talk when business slows

Pros

If you're 20-something and don't know what real collaboration looks like you'll be fine. If you like being told what to do and not being asked. If you like communicating only electronically this is the place for you. If you don't want to have a relationship with your supervisor or anyone in leadership, you'll fit just fine.

Cons

There are lots of good business people at Elanco today, just not very many who are dedicated to building capabilities in others. Too many people cite "the business pressures" are too great to focus on developing people. The manta is that showing that the acquisition of Novartis was a profitable decision is the only thing that matters. Many Millennials are quick to realize that this is not the place for them and leave within 3-4 years. The leadership of Elanco was fine for a company who was 500-1000 employees, but is really struggling to lead an organization that is 7000 employees.

Good place, shifting from "small town" to "big city"

Pros

The company is committed to high energy, high engagement, high achievement. Results are expected and I believe rewarded. There is a good "team culture", and where it isn't, it's noticed as a major problem.

Cons

The company is starting to grow to the point where bureaucracy is hindering the "ownership culture" that I loved.
