Pros

Autonomy and responsibility, mobility within company, flexible work hours, exciting work

Cons

Peter Zieve's bigotry is the first con. Secondly compensation is very immediately tied to corporate performance, when business is down older employees who advanced during the boom years significantly out-earn younger employees regardless of talent or workload.
