Pros

The company is active in a broad range of fields, and in many different ways, so there is a plethora of opportunities for personal enrichment and development.

Cons

Management ("the other side") and the rest of the company are strongly separated. Advancement to the higher level is almost impossible. They rather higher former consultants to fill in VP (and up) positions. Generally lacking deep insights in the fields that Elsevier is active, they tend to rely on consultancy speak and methods, with very little positive effects on the overall performance of the company.
