Pros

Decent learning opportunities. Staff holiday dinners were always nice.

Cons

People don’t leave jobs, they leave managers. That statement has never rang truer than when I worked at ERAU’s Advanced Flight Simulation Center. The manager makes the work environment so toxic it’s unbelievable. Extreme micromanaging, racist comments, sexist remarks, gaslighting of employees, and constant abuse of power are just the beginning of what the technicians and engineers have to deal with. He does not respect his employees and in return, no one respects him, but everyone has bills to pay so no one leaves. When I attempted to go to HR regarding his egregious behavior and “leadership” tactics, I was told that he has been the manager of the center for 30 years and that he was essentially a part of the “good ole boys” club since he had been hired at the same time as other senior flight department personnel.
