Still waiting for a change

Pros

Free tuition, holiday breaks and summer hours.

Cons

Even with all the HR training against racism and discrimination the university has yet to include at least one minority member on the Board of Trustees. It is sad to say that the group is composed of two white females and fifteen white males. They all talk about change and send emails about how inclusivity is important, but 99% of senior leadership is white. Change starts from the top, and this white dominant good all boys environment is not getting us anywhere. Many employees are leaving because of this. Others because of COVID and the lack of flexibility around working hours and/or working from home. Great talent has left and still they don't see that they need to start changing their ways.

Horrible - Do not apply

Pros

- I suppose benefits were okay

Cons

I do not even know where to begin. - Parking on campus is an absolute nightmare. - There is absolutely no accountability for workers. - Directors literally cried about their workload and whined till they were allowed to pass the job onto someone else or hire an admin. Why hire these people as Directors? They clearly are incapable of completing their responsibilities. - A staff employee will get nominated for a "Service Excellence" award, but they shouldn't. They do not know their responsibilities and basically cry through the management chain till someone just says "Okay, we'll handle it for you". - Atmosphere is toxic and so is the culture. Signs of a toxic job: 1) You're constantly overworked, underpaid and your well-being is taking a major hit 2) High rate of employee turnover (huge issue here) 3)Tolerates any type discrimination 4) Majority of employees are burnt out or have extremely low morale 5) Workplace with passive aggressive communication as its primary communication (because no one wants to do their jobs properly) - Do not apply. Nothing makes it worth working there and being treated unprofessionally. And I mean everyone. Department Chairs, Deans, Faculty and Staff.....
