Pros

Average salary for the area. You can meet some very nice people and co-workers are great. Benefits are not bad.

Cons

If your not hired in as management you will never get there. A good portion of the senior leadership you wonder how they got there. It is like the good ole boys club.

Pros

My project is a very good extension from the classroom and most of the professors are on campus to help when I am looking for advice.

Cons

Payroll made it extremely difficult to pay bills and eat for the summer. I have not gotten a single paycheck throughout the entire summer without it having some sort of issue: -the direct deposits weren't working right and they didn't let anyone know until they didn't get paid on time -week-after-week, they kept paying us below the wages we were supposed to be getting, so we would have to get retro-pay to make up for it. -they took off a half a week for 4th of July without notifying everyone that, since the direct deposits weren't going to go through, they wouldn't be getting paid on time For my research project, all of our purchases needed to be processed by the other campus clear across the country. They caused us to miss out on a large chunk of our budget because they took a month and a half to process some very basic purchases. For instance, they spent a very long time processing a tire purchase for the race car we're building, and then when our deadline was getting close, they finally got back to us asking if we could use bicycle tires instead... I don't believe bicycle tires are rated for 250 mph.

Pros

If you want to continue your education (at this university only) or if you like to fly, by all means do it!

Cons

Salary is low, benefits are not competitive, depending on where you work, the unit may be very inflexible in terms of PL, schedules, etc. Also, Daytona is not the most livable place especially if you enjoy a decent night life...
