Pros

Free food, events, bring your child/mom to work day, good place to learn a lot

Cons

18F started to fall apart in the past 6-12 months. There's a lot of disorganization, a lack of communication between teams, rushed projects, and a feeling that everything is an emergency. C-Suite/Sr VPs didn't seem aligned, and the company's performance hit a major low. Major lack of work-life balance. Being in office 4-5 days a week (Fridays are mandatory), 9-6, in office for holidays + weekends + revoked summer fridays caused me to rethink my employment at 1800Flowers. Bit of a boys club and a lot of nepotism. Not too many women in important meetings/conversations unless she was related/connected. No perks - no continued education, no appreciation events, benefits aren't great, and I was underpaid. Recently did layoffs, which isn't ideal for morale + retention. A lot of good people are in the process of leaving or have already left.

HR team was very helpful

Cons

Too many chiefs, new management coming in and letting people go to bring in their own people
