Good for career growth; bad for compensation - IT Engineer II AAPC Employee Review

Pros

There were many opportunities to learn and stretch myself. I feel like 4.5 years here jumped my IT career ahead 10 years in knowledge/experience. Management was always giving me opportunities to learn new systems/tools. I am extremely grateful for this company for this. I really enjoyed working with all my co-workers on the IT team and with other teams on inter-team projects. Everyone is friendly and fun to be around.

Cons

While there were lots of opportunities to grow and learn, there were many unkept promises when it came to compensation. I was first promised by my supervisor that a raise would come at the start of the next year, When that didn't happen, I was told it would come on my work-anniversary. When that didn't come, I brought it to my director; he promised that I would get a promotion and a raise at the start of the next year. Again, that didn't happen. Instead I got a promotion with no raise--in reality it was just a title change--but I got another promise that the raise would come on my work anniversary. Again, that didn't happen, but I decided to loop in HR this time (even though my direct supervisor said that was an "unprofessional" decision lol) and I finally got a 3% raise. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't trusted my supervisor/director to keep their word. I wish I'd created a paper trail for every verbal promise I'd gotten. In IT at AAPC, they will give you access to more systems and train you on more technologies in order to keep you loyal to the company. While this is fun and gives great experience, it also feels a little slimy.

Pros

AI and India is closing all positions. No work for you! You get to train your replacement.

Cons

If you get a job expect that to be your pay for YEARS to come. They don’t keep up with inflation or give raises. Just layoff more and give you the work.
