Pros

The team was incredibly welcoming, and my direct manager was supportive throughout the internship. They were intentional about giving me opportunities to build skills directly relevant to my career goals and ensured that I left the internship with a strong work/writing sample.

Cons

AARP internships are notorious for not offering a conversion path to full-time work. AARP employees stay for decades, so open positions are few and far between.

Pros

Long term employment (May-Dec), unlike other internship so you really feel like you're a full time employee and get to integrate yourself into the team.

Cons

Not many early career options after the internship, they generally do not any interns they take on.
