Pros
The upper management are well-intentioned, enlightened people who care about education. The learning labs are well supported, offering free tutoring on a wide variety of subjects and at many locations.
Cons
Teaching loads are too high (36 units per year for full-time faculty!) 15 units (5 classes) fall and spring PLUS 6 units (2 classes) in the summer. I have been tenured at two other community colleges and never faced a teaching load this extreme. There is a HUGE disconnect between upper management and the everyday faculty/student interactions. This disconnect makes real change seemingly impossible.
