Pros

In Sales their is flexibility just like anywhere else if your exceeding your quota requirement. Most people go into sales to make money. The only way to make money in sales is close deals consistently. If you invest in yourself and your territory, ADP will gladly invest in you. The leaders give you step by step instructions and guidance to follow - key word FOLLOW! No need to re-invent the wheel. Thousands of dollars have gone into research in creating the golden standard of sales success at ADP. Rewards- monetary, lavish trips, more bonus, commission when you've invested minimum two years of success is quite nice and difficult to leave. And the commission keeps getting better every year as your success and batting average to close is one to one. Succession planning within the organization is key for top executives. It takes a while to understand the business so once you get it they want to keep you to help retain more sales reps like you or help further develop their solution.

Cons

Can work long hours, 8-5 is not the norm for successful ADP sales reps. High turnover in sales because it takes a couple years of investment to be financially stable at ADP. The first year always feels like a demotion because it takes a while to build your territory and learn the product solution and industry language. First year includes lots of office time, cold calling, training, making appointments, cleaning database, more training, more calling and salary plus minimum commission. Batting average close 6 to 1. Second year, more client facing appointments, batting average to close 6 to 3 and salary plus average commission. Third year, 3-4 client meetings and batting average to close is 6 to 4 and salary plus good commission. At this point you can make over $100k just on commission. It's not unheard of but you can achieve this on your first or second year.

Pros

- Established company with a long history and relatively stable business operations. - Provides a sense of job stability compared to many organizations navigating rapid changes in the current AI-driven market. - Lower risk of frequent restructuring or large-scale layoffs than many high-growth technology companies. - Opportunity to work with experienced employees who have deep institutional and domain knowledge. - Predictable work environment that may appeal to individuals seeking long-term stability over rapid change. - Strong choice for professionals who value job security and a steady career path in an uncertain economic climate.

Cons

- Documentation is limited or rusted, and many operational processes lack clear runbooks or standardized procedures, making onboarding and troubleshooting more difficult than necessary. - If you're coming from a modern, fast-paced engineering environment, the organization may feel behind current industry practices and tooling. - Internal politics can sometimes outweigh technical merit or execution. - There are teams with very long-tenured employees where change and innovation can be difficult to drive. - Decision-making often involves multiple layers of approval, resulting in significant bureaucracy and slower execution. - Processes can move slowly, and collaboration is not always transparent across teams, leading to inefficiencies and occasional confusion around ownership. - In some areas, roles, responsibilities, and operational processes are not clearly defined, creating unnecessary chaos and inconsistent ways of working. - Engineering standards and best practices vary considerably between teams, making cross-team collaboration challenging. - Organizational change tends to happen slowly, which can be frustrating for employees who are focused on modernization, automation, and continuous improvement.
