Pros

Offices are nice to tutor in, and the snacks and free coffee provided are reminiscent of a start-up or more established corporate company Good effort to train tutors on various subjects/tests There is a chain of mentors and team leaders that provide support weekly Competitive pay, but only when the hours measure up.

Cons

Hours are flexible, but sometimes too much so. One week you can be getting 25 hours of tutoring, and the other week you'll end up with 10 or less. This can be frustrating when you intended for it to be your full-time job. This will NOT be full-time work unless you get in your 25 hours of tutoring, and that will definitely be difficult up until you finish your first year at the company. It seems as though this is falsely advertised in hiring boards and websites...administrative work is discouraged, and so if you don't have the students, you're not really left with anything. Training is abundant, but not really much on teaching methods, just the materials that AJ has on that particular subject. This becomes difficult when you have students where the explanation that's fed to you just doesn't make sense, or when you get that exceptionally inquisitive student that asks about anything and everything. With admin time discouraged, you don't find yourself with the adequate resources to be fully equipped to teach at a high level. You have to really have the passion for the subject and to teach the student. No room for professional or career growth. If you want to move up from here, don't choose to work here unless it's in education. And even then, 1-2 years at most.
