Pros
I always enjoyed teaching but I grew especially passionate about teaching at AJ. The one-on-one sessions were especially effective in helping a student, and I found 90% of my students cared enough about their education to give it their all. So the work was great. Being around other young professionals (it seems the average age of an AJ employee is mid/late 20s) was good for me, it made me feel really comfortable at the office. Pay is really good, the office is really cushy with great snacks and coffee. You get to be the boss of your own schedule, meaning you arrange your week as you like. It's a great environment to grow because there's a lot of support here from coworkers and supervisors and mentors. I was a fresh college graduate when I joined, and AJ really helped me grow as a professional.
Cons
The job is really focused on students and those are one-on-one sessions, so sometimes you don't get a lot of interaction with coworkers. It makes it a bit hard to connect with your coworkers. Scheduling can be a pain sometimes. Parents/students cancel last minute, have restrictions on when they can meet, etc. Some weeks you might be in the office from 1 to 10pm and only actually have worked 3 hours. With some practice you learn how to manage your weeks well enough, but not having a consistent schedule can be trying. I know several people who struggled, myself included, to find the work/life balance.
