Pros

Busy so time flies Interesting Customers Somewhat Recession Proof

Cons

Store Managers have broad authority and little oversight from District Pay for new hires is non-competitive and isn't sufficient for the high intensity work ethic expectations Doing 3 jobs and getting paid for 1 Stores are poorly staffed by design Training is terrible and inconsistent Favoritism/Discrimination/retaliation is tolerated on the divisional level Hazing of new hires, especially if they aren't kissing butt and pretending to like the Store Manager Gossip, clique-y, feels like a middle school run by 3rd graders No security at all, store is constantly being ransacked. Dangerous at night/morning No employee discount at all (grocery or non-grocery) Inconsistent hours Favored employees are allowed to disregard SOP/policy Expected to work 6 hours without any breaks, getting your breaks at the end of your shift, having to wait for favored employees to take their breaks first even if you came in before them. Being told to not use the bathroom except on paid breaks (expected to hold it for 6+ hours) So much more!

Pros

Great pay Hours were always there The manager at my location is a rare gem. Never had a boss quite like him. Everyone I worked with became like my family.

Cons

EXTREMELY physically demanding. I injured myself multiple times while I worked there.

Pros

+ industry leading wages Associates - $12/hr, Shift Mgr - $16/hr, SMT - $23/hr, Store Manager - $75,000+/yr + great work environment + excellent training + health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k + 40-50 hr/wk with paid overtime Very fast paced so work hours fly by. I loved working at Aldi. The pay was great! Benefits great! Was training to be a store manager so a lot was expected of me but I was totally up for it. My store manager loved my work, associates loved my fairness, customers loved me.

Cons

+ work/life balance + walked 28,000 steps/day!!! Never thought I would be fired for clocking in only minutes late!!
