      Pros

      You can get your recertification for CPR and can get CE credits as well through classes taught at HQ, depending on your stations location. In my area, it's like a big family at the station, we all look out for each other, including management. Due to it being a big company, you have a lot of discounts and good insurance to take advantage of.

      Cons

      Moral varies by location. There are unions in a lot of areas. Uniform orders take a while to get in for some reason.

      Pros

      Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

      Cons

      Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

      Pros

      AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

      Cons

      Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
