      Company has more money than sense - Paramedic AMR Employee Review

      Pros

      Relatively higher pay. But not the highest.

      Cons

      Purposely understaffed, causing crews to be overworked and fatigued. And, when held over for several hours on a consistent basis, when encouraging unnecessary responses, transports, and post moves, and when no attempt is made to give the crews C7 or meal break, we have a recipe for mistakes. Unfortunately, it also has become one for traffic accidents, lethal traffic accidents.

      Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

      Cons

      Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

      Pros

      AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

      Cons

      Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
