Pros

Okay benefits. Large budgets. Decent pay.

Cons

No onboarding or training. You just show up on your first day and day-by-day have to figure everything out from point A. On my team, there was little room for advancement because everyone had been in their position for years. There was no formal structure for pay increases. No company culture and weird office vibe like there was tension between different departments or different brands. Absolutely NO diversity from leadership down. Tons of bureaucracy or people are just slow to change so it seems as if its best to operate on how things have historically been done. So basically, no new ideas are welcome. Office space was hideous. Lots of changes and integration. For such a large company, I cannot say I was able to understand the goals of my position, department or the company and how we were going to get there. This was one of the worst job experiences I have ever had and never felt valued for my talents. Just tolerated and questioned.

Pros

A culture accepting of all people. The corp. just went public and gave every employee stock options. The size provides opportunity for advancement and options to transfer to other locations. Good equipment and pay. Excellent training department. A great place to gain experience.

Cons

Some would prefer to run only 911 calls, but AMR runs hospital to hospital calls as well as 911.

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Cons

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
