      Unfortunately, no matter your position, when you work the line you are just a body filling a position. It doesn’t matter if you are a nurse, EMT or Medic - they seem to just move on when they get tired of you. Pretty high turnover, focus is on the bottom dollar and not the medicine and patients that they pretend to care so much about in their marketing material. When you provide the bare minimum, the employees you get will be the bare minimum as well.

      Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

      Cons

      Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

      Pros

      AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

      Cons

      Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
