Pros
Good pay, generally seemed like a good place to work. It seemed like other departments had better managers and architects.
Cons
My manager/architect was not good. He was a poor communicator who rarely spoke to me. He gave only general requirements for assignments which you would think would give you the freedom to do your work how you want to do it but then he will expect your work to meet "industry standards", but he won't tell you what he expects. This only became a problem when I asked him how he wanted to implements things. I probably could have gotten away with just doing whatever because to him code review seemed like a simple test of compile and a few runs of the code. I know he didn't actually review code he would always accept code only hours after it was submitted no matter how large the code change. He even asked me "How does this work?" for some code I submitted that he has already "reviewed" and accepted.
