Pros

Lots of experience to be gained due to the large amount of products and high need to technical adaptation. Open PTO is pretty good depending on management. Work/life balance is solid, bar for a few very long days or weekends.

Cons

Salary is not market value and management is not always the most transparent when it comes to achieving a higher salary opportunities, if any are even really possible. Numerous times I had management try to dissuade the idea of getting higher payment even after being there for more than a year. Management doesn't really do much to try to keep longer term employees happy for their tenure and thus causes a drop in morale. Often times other employees would quit and management would do little to fill in the position, simply causing more work to be put upon the rest of the team. Even times when there was a skeleton crew management did little to try to fill in positions. The worst part I would say is communication. Often times I felt like I couldn't trust my manager if they were given the choice between doing the right and fair thing, versus getting doing something that would make them seem better to higher execs. Other times there were various moments of unprofessionalism displayed, such as favoritism and bias toward certain other employees or immature behavior in team building activities. Engineering especially is in a strange spot. Various times I saw the company prefer to user contractors instead of hiring local employees, so this calls into question the job security of such a job. Even one incident where a team was suddenly laid off without given a warning.

Pros

Lots of potential across their portfolio. Standard benefits. OK work/life balance (if you're remote). Very interested in creating a culture of improvement - but not necessarily innovation like you'd expect at a software company (See Cons).

Cons

Parent company is way too involved and tries to run this software company like a hardware company (which is most of their portfolio). Aging tech and design of their product portfolio. There was a very toxic political culture when I was there, but that may have changed. Lots of brain drain over the past few years of their most experience leaders and software engineers. No equity (except for some "high potential" hires and some VPs and above... which creates rifts between the haves, the have nots and management - it's common that a high demand new hire gets equity like AI engineers and data scientists, but their manager does not have equity and has to be able to answer questions about their equity as part of their comp.
