Pros
One of the few reasons I still go to work anymore are my coworkers. You get the opportunity to work with some really smart individuals. Unlimited PTO is nice, however, no one feels like they have to time to take it due to work loads and the fear of being replaced by another less expensive cog. The break rooms are nice. There are snacks from time to time. Sometimes left overs from exec meetings are left out. You get to learn a lot in a short amount of time...unfortunately that's rarely recognized. 401K matching is nice
Cons
Too many. - Management plays favorites. - Document your ideas, otherwise it will be stollen. - Engineers are severely underpaid as are members of Services and Support. Despite promises of "market match" no one seems to be happy with what "raise" they receive. - Sales is full of your typical "anything to get the sale" mentality. This causes confusion and headaches for the other departments if a deal closes. - There is no innovation here. No one is excited about technology. If anyone is excited, it's those making the most money and the college grad for about two weeks - Innovation weeks where actual programmers come up with elegant product enhancements, but those lose out if a big-wig client screams loud enough and threatens to leave if their enhancement isn't worked on. - Processes across all departments seem to be in disarray. Some products still act as their own company and fight tooth and nail against any attempt to unify across verticals. - The All Hands meetings: initially beneficial for a new hire, but becomes repetitive. - Management always wants dates of when something will be complete and will push for as soon as possible, rather than taking time for the right solution. - Half the advice/mantras management and execs give is parroted from business and self help books. - For a small-medium sized company, the CEO sure isn't around a lot. - The executive team claims open door policy, but they don't seem to be listening half the time. - There doesn't seem to be much follow through on actual initiatives that get completed and "rolled out"
