Pros

Exposure to Network equipment. However, GNS3 exists, so.... It's not that great of a perk. This company used to care about it's employees. This company does not care at all. All prospective employees should run away.

Cons

Company is very toxic. They nurture an environment of "blame this team" instead of correcting problems. Upper management doesn't even know how to fix the issues that happen in the NOC, but that's not all that uncommon. The biggest 'con" I can give Acuative is that they will treat employees as cogs, labeled as "friends and family". The moment you should any illness or disability, they will invent reasons to remove you. - They will ask you to work extra hours for no extra pay. - They will write you up for errors cause by management. - They will suspend you or write you up for inconsequential issues while management can greatly endanger customer information without even the slightest bit of reprisal. - They will BEG you for help when things are critical, but you will be abandoned the minute the situation flips. I had a good job offer, but was BEGGED to stay as they needed help for the Team. I was released/fired 2 weeks later because "restructuring". My point is, this place USES and DISCARDS people like slaves. Don't fall into it. This company isn't just bad, it's dangerous and criminal. <>

Pros

At the time there was the ability to be remote. That's no longer the case.

Cons

I worked for 5 years in the VISE team where we provided support for Cisco UCS. We were paid abyssmally for what we were doing and raises were pathetic (talking about a company that have me a 'raise' to 19.99 an hour and couldn't even round up a penny) but the perk of being remote most the week was nice. Eventually the company got a new contract so they decided to push Cisco away which ended with our entire team being laid off after we trained our overseas replacements (and in hindsight realizing the company knew of all this at least 6 months before it happened given where our department was moved to as the new contract got moved into the noc) except a handful of people who were the managers favorites getting moved to another department. Such as a person who was in the department for only a year being moved while far more senior and experienced people were laid off. Honestly being laid off was the best thing for me though as I was too comfortable to look elsewhere and I've since moved to a much better paying job that also is giving me much more meaningful skills and I no longer need to deal with a micromanaging upper manager. From what I've been told from people still there the company has gone even further down hill.
