Is the ship going down? When I started in 2000 there were 48,000 employees. Today it's somewhere in the ball park of 15,000, with a much higher percentage in Asia. Much of the US & European offices are reduced. There are always bum managers in every corporation and they do have a few here and there. If you look for it you can find some politics but the majority of people are just there to do their job and do it well.
