Pros
Local management within our immediate coverage area is excellent. Interaction with our Crews and customers has always been a significant driving force for doing what is best for the patient.
Cons
Locally, the managers that I work with are excellent, however upper management is less than sub par. Communication is not disseminated appropriately, but Management thrives on their "big wins" on a week to week basis. AMC tends to focus primarily on the money they are pulling in, mainly the payer mix. If bases are not pulling in a good return on transports, they will close the base down, leaving multitudes of employees without a job from one day to the next. There is no recompense for employees that have pledges many years to the company and legitimately show compassion to the field in which they served. The company is really big on consolidation and sees not worth in keeping deep rooted Communication centers that have served the community. The Company places people in upper management positions that have no business being in those types of positions. People are being brought in to this field that know nothing regarding the EMS environment, but are placed in the highest position available to steer the region. The company is hemorrhaging money in every aspect, but continue to spend frivolously on "Team building" meetings at Corporate head quarters. There is NO job stability within Air Methods at this time. Bases have been closed only to relocate employees to another base only to have that second base closed down weeks to months later.
