Pros
Sometimes you get a good partner. 401K did alright.
Cons
12 to 18 hour shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, on call and no lunch breaks because we are “EMS”, unless we are in a pandemic, then the company slaps NON essential employee at the top of all dispatchers reviews so we don’t qualify for pandemic pay or bonus, while still categorizing us as EMS. Benefits for the most part are lacking. Raises cap around 2% when they aren’t frozen or delayed… sick time and vacation is minimum, especially when you work a 12 hour shift. It takes a lot longer to earn a day off. Management is a joke… have a problem with your boss? He might be married to his boss so good luck reporting an issue about him to his wife. Young lady looking for love? Maybe one of your bosses will get you pregnant! Married and want to branch out? We have plenty of comm specs for you to choose from. When you find one you like just give them a promotion! Does your whole family need a job? Be a manager here and you can hire all your siblings, your mom, your baby momma, her husband, the whole clan is welcome and we will definitely have a spot for them because we are always hiring! There not all bad though… there are 2 good ones that might be your saving grace. P.S. I’m convinced some of the glowing reviews for this position are written by management desperate to boost staffing issues. In your interview do yourself a favor and ask questions. Ask about the schedule, on call, PTO, culture, benefits. They will sit you with a comm spec during the interview process. Ask them as well so you have multiple prospectives. ASK ASK ASK.
