Pros
For someone that is willing to put in median effort, you can move up the ranks and have a nice career path. The company has a great product selection, improving website, and has invested into helping its customers save money beyond price. As with many companies, if you have a solid relationship with your boss (in good times and bad), a job is something you can look forward to at Airgas.
Cons
Leadership development in the second and third tiers is challenged. During my last role with the company, my supervisor and his supervisor were unfit to lead a complex business. Unfortunately, many public companies have leaders that have their "circles" and that was certainly the case before I voluntarily left the organization. It's frustrating when you perform, are not in the circle, and are put in a position to subsidize poorer performers that are in the circle. Furthermore, when I took the initiative to better myself with getting an advanced degree, it was discouraged. I funded myself and am much happier with my new company. From an external customer perspective, stop trying to hit financial goals through aggressive price hikes.
