Pros

Comprehensive benefits in terms of different types of insurances. Pretty decent job security as there is always more than enough work to go around. The union also is passionate about protecting its workers and will fight (and often win) to get your job back. Direct management ranges from terrible to awesome depending on the unit you are in and level in the chain of command.

Cons

If you ever plan on starting a family, please avoid. There's no parental leave and now a huge lack of flexibility for hours worked due to desk sharing. There's also no personal time, about a week of vacation for 1st year there (does increase), and a week of sick time alloted each year. LDRM (the joint contractor Akima is part of) has refused to negotiate in good faith over reasonable asks by the union. LDRM even tried to ignore the law for accommodations of disabilities. The supervisors and managers, if they are decent, seem to not be given the time of day in terms of improvements by the higher ups.

Pros

The pay is pretty good.

Cons

Didn’t really seem to have much opportunity for growth.

Pros

Hard to say any if at all. I get a paycheck (that took months to be paid correctly)

Cons

No wage increase despite others making way over SCA limits, no adjustments for cost of living, same people recognized for doing bare minimum, insurance premiums are insane, no allowance for unpaid leave, PM totally unaware of what even happens on the contract, no one in upper management takes accountability for mistakes and contractors are blamed, many inadequate hires made just to have a warm body
