Pros
Great leadership at top levels, passionate people, patient focused, very driven and determined to improve people's lives. Alkermes has a great CEO who seems very genuine and honest with. He does a good job of addressing issues, motivating and communicating with all employees on the mission and goals of the company. The company is full of many good people who work hard and believe in what they are doing. The company also treats their employees well with a strong benefit package and has a good work life balance.
Cons
The location is terrible, many people drive over an hour each way. The company seems reluctant to become more modernized and adopt telecommuting. There is no real career path for you, what you get hired as is more than likely what you will be stuck at. There is no real development or career path. Its a place where you just hope someone above you quits or retires in hopes of moving forward with your career. Although senior leadership is great, once you get to mid-level there is a lot politics and bureaucracy. This pretty much halts any collaboration and new ideas as there are too many chefs in the kitchen who want to put their 2 cents on even the most minute changes. The raise seems standardized by department, meaning its a flat rate or cap. It does not really reward you based on what you have done, more so on what number they pre-determine for your department.
