Pros

Nothing. Not one nice thing comes to mind. Oh, maybe the building is nice and the breakroom had good vending machines. Not one thing comes to mind that I can say in favor of them as an employer.

Cons

Avoid. They are terrible. This place seemed like a great workplace. That was until the verbal abuse started on day 1. They are a large OHP servicer. They literally train you to be abusive to the subscribers. Their training materials state that the average caller on OHP can't read past 5th grade level and we were told that they were poor, uneducated, and if you don't explain it to them like they are stupid they won't get it. The training staff talked down to them as if they were so much better than these people. I pointed out that not everyone on OHP is there because they are stupid or unable to learn. I am a college graduate. I graduated with honors. I had to use OHP during a really rough patch in my life. They fired me for this. They pay under what any living wage should be for the area.

Pros

The team is the best part of this job. The people I work with are good at what they do and they care about the work. Relationships with other departments are strong too — when we're left to coordinate directly with each other, things move fast and problems get solved without much friction.

Cons

Management is reactive, and the team absorbs the cost of that. Direction shows up late and usually isn't specific enough to act on, so work gets redone. Decisions get made without asking the people who are closest to them. Concerns raised tend to get redirected somewhere else instead of resolved. The bottleneck isn't the team's capability, it's how long it takes to get anything through that layer.
