Pros
AI2 is a fascinating and amazing place to work at. It's honestly the dream jobs we look for that combines purpose, curiosity, and generous remuneration. Work AI2 tackles some of the hardest and often unsexy problems that are foundational to moving the field of AI forward and produces valuable tools to accelerate scientific research. Every project is tied to producing real value for the common good. Environment The environment is great. Everyone is friendly, very helpful and intellectually curious. While AI2 is growing, it’s still small enough that you can get to know nearly everyone. There are fantastic perks that make coming to work fun and enjoyable. All employees get a convertible standing desk, free noise cancelling headphones and there is free food in the kitchen and two catered meals a week. Leadership Oren Etzioni, the CEO, is a fascinating leader who is both a world class AI professor and a seasoned entrepreneur having built and sold several ventures. He’s managed to create an environment that produces high impact research rapidly by running a research institute with start-up energy. I also never worked in an environment where the CEO and COO (James Allard) are so accessible. Oren and James will randomly play chess with us during lunch or after work. There will be company wide email chains about cool scientific findings and interesting AI work. And both leaders doors are open for drop-ins. Work Life Balance and Benefits We are encouraged to find the schedule that works best works for us. There is a lot of flexibility when it comes to working from home and working remotely. The benefit are ridiculously generous, in addition to the matching 401k and great medical coverage, gym and fitness costs are reimbursed, there is continuing education support, and other little perks like a company matching for health savings accounts.
Cons
AI2 is facing a few minor growing pains as it expands. There are opportunities for better communication across teams and centralization of support. However,
